No matter the year of your birth, good health is a lifelong pursuit. Mental Notes:

I was watching extreme skiing recently, and marveled at those athletes skiing off steep mountain peaks. My cardio went up just watching them. But I don’t have to do that, nor do I want to. Every age has its passions and every age has physical and mental demands, it’s essential to realize you are never too young, or too old, to feel good. Start young, age well. If you are just setting out on your path to wellness journey, not to worry, your brain adapts, your muscles tone and your circulation improves at every age. Although brain health and good memory become priority with each decade.

Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience published a recent study conducted by University of Maryland’s Department of Kinesiology. Justin Gmoser and Jessica Orwig reported that after ten days of no exercise, blood flow in a master athlete’s brain was significantly reduced. The Hippocampus was most affected, short and longterm memories are stored here. No other conclusions were made but more studies are necessary to see if and how inactivity affects non-athletes’ short and long-term memory.

My goal is to be physically strong, supple, nimble, energetic, and fit as I can be at every age. Today that may include walking a score of miles a day in some exotic location; bogeying to a great band, or teaching a couple Qigong classes a day; this means on my feet and moving!! I also want quality time with my husband, family and friends as well as time for Internal work of meditation and creative pursuits. Work needs lots of attention too. And “living the good life” for us includes TRAVEL: fun, photography and lots of laughter. This is a great year to keep moving!!

Comment below with your wellness priorities for this year. Thanks for being a vital part of our Qi community. Share your best energy with others.

Keep Fit, Stay Flexible and Feel Fabulous at every age!

Qi-fully,  Cynthia
